Image
In the name of Allaah, the Entirely Merciful the Exceptionally Merciful All praise is to Allah – the Lord of the world. May His peace and blessing be upon the last messenger, Prophet Muhammad, his household, his companions and those on the path of righteousness until the Last Day. It is part of the Islamic beliefs that after death, all mankind will enter a realm before the day Allah will resurrect everyone. This realm is what is known as the "Barzakh". It should be known that it is a grave misunderstanding on their part; as denying the realm of Barzakh is equivalent to denying the reality of death which, according to al-Jibaly, is the ultimate reality that no human being can escape from. It forces everyone to realize the worthlessness of this worldly life and the necessity to prepare for the permanent abode in the next one. It awes and challenges all of their false claims an...

THE VALUE OF POSITIVE SELF-ESTEEM

Image
Authored by Munirah Abdullah (D_Dignified_Muslimah) Our self-esteem is instilled in us during our youth. Being constantly criticized by family, friends, and society tends to slowly strip us of our feelings of self worth. Our low self esteem strips us of our self confidence to make even the smallest of decisions. Improving our self esteem increases our confidence and it is the first step towards finding happiness and a better life. Self-esteem is known as an attitude toward the self and is similar to a judgment of oneself. It means to reflect a person’s overall evaluation or appraisal of his or her own strength and weaknesses. Self-esteem encompasses beliefs and emotions. It is self esteem that provokes the feelings of triumph, despair, pride and shame. The self-concept is what we think about the self. Self-esteem on the other hand, is the positive or negative evaluations of the self, is how we feel about it. It is the quality (positive or negative) that rend...

Image
By Naila’s Diary   Have you ever thought that you don’t deserve Allah’s Mercy? Did you ever mess up ‘big time’ and think that Allah will never forgive you? Have you ever stopped making du’a to Allah thinking that He will not accept it anyway? What really comes to your mind when you think of Allah? Do you think good of Him or otherwise? Husn udh-dhann billah  means having a good opinion of Allah. It refers to, being certain of receiving only good from Him, to have positive thoughts about Him, believing that He will deal with us in the best of ways. Allah says,  “I am as My servant thinks I am”.  ( Bukhari ) That is, in order for us to expect something good from Allah we have to truly believe that He is Capable of giving us that good. Thinking well of Allah is a fundamental aspect of our worship. How can we worship Him the way He deserves to be worshipped when we are not aware of His Attributes or when we think that He is akin to the people around u...
